The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the US. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and by 2050, this number could rise as high as 15 million. The Greater NJ Chapter provides programs. resources and services to our 14 counties and delivers care and support services including caregiver support groups to over 170,000 People Living with Dementia today with the diagnosis of dementia-related disorders and Alzheimer’s disease, and our caregivers and families in Greater NJ.To enhance care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer’s disease the Alzheimer’s Association provides a wealth of programs and services at the community level. The Association provides these resources for families and caregivers:
– A 24/7 Helpline [800-272-3900] answered by a live Dementia Care Specialist that provides information, resources, care consultation and safety services with translation services in over 200 dialects.
– Education programs throughout the Greater NJ region delivering information, resources and materials for our communities. Please contact us if you would like to host a program.
– Support groups throughout the Greater NJ region and connects people to information, resources and services including a Caregivers Support Group for families on the journey of Alzheimer’s Disease hosted by The Community Well at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville. The group meets on the third Monday of each month at 1:00 pm. For details, go to the support group’s flyer.
