Residents of Mercer County are invited to help shape the way health and wellness services are provided in the region, thanks to a new survey by the Greater Mercer Public Health Partnership (GMPHP). The survey is available online at www.HealthyMercer.org. It will also be available at most of the Mercer County libraries and senior centers. The survey closes on May 18th, 2018.
“We are a coalition of four hospitals, seven health departments, and 40 non-profits all working together to improve the health of Mercer residents” explained Carol Nicholas, Project Director. “We hope to collect a couple thousand surveys to learn what the residents consider the most pressing health issues and barriers to good health.”
The data will be used to craft the Mercer County Community Health Assessment. From this, the community organization will meet in the fall to develop a Community Health Improvement Plan to address those issues over the next three years. The data are used by many non-profit and government organizations to justify services, to write grants, and to develop policy that promotes health.
The GMPHP coalition comprises of Capital Health Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center, RWJ Barnabas Health, municipal health departments, Mercer County Human Services, and other non-profit organizations whose mission is to measurably improve the health of Mercer residents.
